My name is Jan and I am a personal coach and course tutor/group facilitator. I specialise in stress management and weight management but work within many other areas of personal development. I coach people of all ages, including teenagers and young people.
My approach is rooted in the relatively new discipline of positive psychology, which focuses on a person's strengths and potential rather than on their problems and shortcomings. I have a positive view of people and I believe that everyone has the right to lead a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. Through my work I facilitate the cultivation of those qualities and habits which will allow you to flourish and prosper.

My approach to weight management is borne out of my belief that, on the whole, diets don't work - certainly in the long term. (It is estimated that 80-90% of dieters return to their previous weight, or even exceed it). The areas I encourage people to explore include mindful (or intuitive) eating; emotional/comfort eating; environmental triggers to over (or under) eating; how to eat a nutritionally balanced diet; increasing self-esteem; and improving body image. My practice is in Brighton, which is easily accessible from places such as Hove, Lewes, Rottingdean and Newhaven.
